G is for Gone Are Those days

Gone are the days of dark, deep secrets and secret things...insidious  and unspoken things. A place of screams that impaled the songstress to their ridicule. No, they could not  know what they didn’t  admit. It could barely be spoken of in hushed whispers, behind closed doors for even cups had ears and flies listened through walls. That place where everyone minded nobody’s business and yet knew everyone’s but their own. Where rancid air reeked of suppressed emotions and fettered thoughts. And  survival meant  you conformed to prejudiced views and succumbed to religion fronting as morality. A foul brew cradling a precarious balance. Those were broken places of biding your time to escape the belly of their beast. A beast that never yawned to let in air, never shifted to offer relief.  Thank God. Gone are those days of chronic trepidation.

  1. I wish gone days were coming days.Maybe respect for mankind will be prevail.I yearn for the day when our children will not be inculcated with strange life styles in the name of choice. In the olden days we were everyone's child, now simple respect and decency are exceptions than the rule.May the gone days comeback before the house is completely defaced and debased.T Mlilo

  3. This reminds me of Song of Innocence. The past is not too distant and the future is within the horizon. The present brings the past and future within our reach. And these hands will shape our destiny, our choices, opportunities.I hear the African drum beating, not once, not twice but its a melody played by mankind in search of what is good and best for us and the next generation.I have hope, and the sun will rise tomorrow.
