Music

If music be the food of love, then play on player.

Here's me introducing you to some heerlik (wonderfully delicious) SA tunes, we do indeed have talent in the South.

 I absolutely love Prime Circle.

It's a very bad thing for little boys to have these voices. I'm sure they get cougars underwear thrown a them too.
By far our biggest export to date, are the Parlatones.
Jessie is ever so talented and his music choice is night and day from his dad's Johnny Clegg, our Zulu speaking white boy.
This is the most versatile artist I know, she's covered so many genre's and she did well in becoming part of Flash Replublic. They're fierce.
I remember their shows at the University of Cape Town and they were like a garage band then who used to come perform between classes. Wow, who could ever have guessed they'd be this bit. Everything is possible.
I wish everyone could understand this song, these lyrics are ridiculously funny.
FYI_he comes from the same suburb that Charlise Theron is from. lol...cute_she's also Afrikaans btw..
I only listened to Karen Zoid recently but have known about her forever. I couldn't get more of her fabulous music but she has a very quirky style. I love her.

End of SA Band feature for today.

1.05.2011 _ I'm not one to listen to Celine Dion voluntarily under normal circumstances but while writing my post this morning these lyrics kept hammering a way in my head and lo' and behold' You Tube tells me its good old Celine's song. And I can't believe I forgot its from Lion King, considering the number of times I've had to watch this movie in my motherhood.

hm hm hm _ the man got it goin' on
Anthony Hamilton is one of the leading lights of the neo-soul movement. And while it's easy to call his music retro given a vocal style that recalls Bill Wethers and a rootsy yet modern-sounding production aesthetic that is clearly indebted to Stevie Wonder, Hamilton is more a product of his own tireless vision than of any sort of old-school fetishism.
Although Hamilton tasted success a few times early in his career, he jumped from label to label and kept a side career as a writer and back-up singer. Hamilton has had a comfortable home with Jermaine Dupri's So So Def label since 2003, yet 2007's SOUTHERN COMFORT proves that creating deep, organic soul has been the singer's M.O. since day one, as this album is, remarkably, his second collection of older, previously unreleased material. That his vaults are this stacked speaks volumes to Hamilton's talent.Entertainment Weekly (p.74) - "It's a worthy set -- made that much sweeter by the critical and commercial success that Hamilton would soon capture." -- Grade: B

My first feature album is from this fine man.
Enjoy.

Love Letter is the tenth studio album by American R&B recording artist R. Kelly, released December 14, 2010 on Jive Records. It was written and produced entirely by Kelly. A departure from his previous work's contemporary sound and sexually-explicit themes, Love Letter incorporates classicist soul music influences and features chivalrous lyrics concerning love and forgiveness.
The album debuted at number six on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 154,000 copies in its first week. It produced two singles that attained respectable charting on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Upon its release, Love Letter received positive reviews from most music critics, who complimented its classically-minded style and praised Kelly for his singing and songwriting. The album has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and has sold 464,100 copies in the United States.
